The Philippines continues to strengthen its position as one of Southeast Asia’s most vibrant live entertainment markets, and Spain-based Proactiv Entertainment is looking to become part of that growth.
With a slate spanning family theater, intimate concerts and film-with-live-orchestra experiences, Proactiv is expanding its Philippine footprint through a partnership with Rockwell, beginning with “PEPPA PIG Fun Day Out!” at the Proscenium Theater in Makati from August 7 to 9, 2026.

For Blake Tatroe, Head of Proactiv Entertainment Asia Pacific, bringing Peppa Pig to the stage is about more than simply introducing a popular children’s character to Filipino audiences. It is an opportunity to introduce a new generation to live theater while giving parents an experience rooted in nostalgia.

“There’s something for young kids who have never been to the theater,” Tatroe explained. “But because the parents can also now enjoy the experience as well because of the nostalgia, it’s really like a complete family experience.”

Growing the Next Generation of Theatergoers

The partnership between Proactiv Entertainment and Rockwell is anchored on a shared belief in community and family.

For Proactiv, which has four decades of experience in global tour production, Peppa Pig represents an accessible entry point into the performing arts, one that can potentially turn first-time theatergoers into lifelong audiences.
“I have a very firm belief that we have a responsibility to the arts to continue to grow audiences into the future,” Tatroe said.

That philosophy is reflected in the company’s approach to programming. Rather than focusing on a single demographic, Proactiv aims to curate a diverse calendar that welcomes different audiences into live entertainment spaces.
“It’s really important to us to curate an event calendar throughout the year that celebrates something for everybody,” he added.

The Manila staging of PEPPA PIG Fun Day Out! is also part of a broader regional tour. Following its run at the Proscenium Theater, the production heads to Hong Kong’s East Kowloon Cultural Centre before continuing to Singapore’s Esplanade Theatre.

For Proactiv, Manila is therefore not simply another stop on the tour—it is becoming an important part of its regional entertainment strategy.

From Family Theater to Global Music Icons

While Peppa Pig introduces Proactiv’s family-oriented programming to the Rockwell partnership, the company’s plans for the Philippines extend well beyond children’s theater.

Next on its expanding slate is an intimate performance by Grammy-winning artist John Legend, also in partnership with Rockwell.

Tatroe teased the upcoming show as “the most intimate and special night of music you could possibly have,” signaling Proactiv’s intention to bring different kinds of live experiences to Filipino audiences.

The company is also venturing further into the growing film-in-concert format, partnering with Film Concerts Philippines to bring “Jujutsu Kaisen in Concert” to the country later this year.

The mix of programming demonstrates Proactiv’s broader strategy: create a calendar that moves seamlessly between family entertainment, concerts, theatrical productions and immersive music experiences.

Why the Philippines?

Having worked in Asia since 2011, Tatroe has witnessed the region’s live entertainment industry evolve significantly, particularly in markets such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Among these markets, he considers the Philippines particularly special.
“I always tell people that the Philippines is one of the most spectacular places to produce, to promote, to host a show,” he said.

For Tatroe, part of the country’s advantage comes from the Filipino audience itself.
“Filipinos will walk down the street singing,” he said, describing the country’s deep connection to music and the performing arts. “So you know you’re going to get incredible audiences; they’re going to be engaged in the show.”
He also pointed to the sophistication and passion of Filipino audiences, as well as the country’s ability to create an atmosphere regardless of venue size.

“Whether you’re in a 700-seat venue or a 50,000-seat stadium, you can really generate an ambiance here and a passion for the arts that can’t necessarily be replicated everywhere else,” Tatroe said.

Building a More Diverse Live Entertainment Landscape
For Proactiv, its growing presence in the Philippines is ultimately about creating more opportunities for audiences to discover live entertainment.

The company sees Rockwell and the Proscenium Theater as an important part of that ecosystem, complementing the venue’s existing programming across theater, music and the performing arts.
“We continue to expand the footprint of entertainment within the Metro Manila area,” Tatroe said, adding that the long-term hope is to eventually bring more productions to other parts of the Philippines.

From a beloved children’s character making families’ first theater memories, to an intimate night with one of the world’s biggest music stars, and an anime experience brought to life through a live orchestra, Proactiv Entertainment’s expanding Philippine slate reflects a market that continues to welcome new ways of experiencing entertainment.
And if its upcoming lineup is any indication, Proactiv’s Philippine story is only beginning.
